Where to Stay Near Devils Tower

The right home base depends on what comes before and after the Tower. Compare proximity, services and road-trip convenience.

There is no single best place to stay near Devils Tower. Pick the location that fits your route—not just the shortest mileage on a map.

At the park entrance

Choose this for sunrise views, the shortest drive into the monument and a night that feels centered on the Tower. Seasonal camping, cabins and lodging sit near the entrance, but dining and shopping choices are limited.

Hulett

Hulett is the closest full small-town base north of the monument. It works well for travelers continuing toward Aladdin, Belle Fourche or the Northern Black Hills, and it offers a compact mix of motels, food and local services.

Sundance

Sundance offers the broadest small-town base in Crook County and convenient access to I-90. Stay here if your route links Devils Tower with Spearfish, Deadwood, Sturgis, Gillette or a longer Wyoming road trip.

Moorcroft

Moorcroft is a practical I-90 stop south of the Tower with lodging, fuel, food and local history. It is especially convenient when approaching from Gillette or continuing west after your visit.

Cabins, ranch stays and vacation rentals

Properties outside town offer privacy, dark skies and wider views. Confirm road conditions, exact drive times and what food or supplies are available before arriving—especially outside the summer season.

Book early for peak dates.Summer weekends and the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally period can tighten availability across Northeast Wyoming and the Black Hills.
