Entrance passes

A private-vehicle pass covers the vehicle and its passengers. The motorcycle pass covers up to two private motorcycles and four total passengers. People entering on foot or bicycle pay individually if they are age 16 or older.

America the Beautiful passes are accepted. The Devils Tower annual pass is currently $45. Fees can change, so use the official National Park Service page as the final word before travel.

Cashless payment

The park entrance station accepts credit, debit and digital payment rather than cash. You can also purchase some passes in advance through Recreation.gov.

Download or screenshot a digital pass before reaching the gate in case mobile service is weak. Keep identification available when using a pass that requires it.

Parking strategy

The visitor center lot is limited and fills during busy summer hours. Arriving before 10 a.m. or after 4 p.m. improves the odds of a smoother entrance and a space near the main trailhead.

Long vehicles need extra patience. The picnic-area lot can serve as a backup for hikers willing to take South Side and Red Beds uphill to the visitor center area.

Hours and current conditions

The monument grounds and individual facilities do not always share the same schedule. Visitor-center, campground, entrance-station and seasonal-program hours can vary.

Check alerts and current conditions on the day of travel, especially during winter weather, wildfire smoke, construction or major regional events.
