Accessible parking, restrooms, visitor-center features, picnic facilities and campground sites are available. Only the first portion of the Tower Trail approach is considered wheelchair accessible.
Visitor center area
The historic visitor center doorway accommodates wheelchairs up to 35 inches wide. Exhibits, plaza curb cuts, benches, drinking fountains and the information kiosk include accessibility features.
Accessible restrooms are in the first log building on the right as you enter the visitor center parking area. Conditions and building access should be confirmed with the park when a detail is essential.
Tower Trail limitations
A concrete path reaches the start of the Tower Trail loop. The National Park Service identifies roughly the first 0.2 mile as wheelchair accessible.
Beyond that point, steep grades make the trail unsuitable for wheelchairs and power scooters. The park strongly advises against taking mobility devices beyond the accessible intersection.
Campground and picnic area
Four Belle Fourche River Campground sites are identified as accessible, and campground restrooms are accessible. The amphitheater, nearby restrooms and portions of the picnic area also provide accessible features.
Reserve or confirm the exact campsite and current campground status before travel.
Hearing, vision and service animals
Large-print and braille brochures may be available through the visitor center, and waysides provide visual interpretation. Contact the park in advance for a specific accommodation.
Task-trained service animals may use facilities and trails, subject to control and safety requirements. Pets and emotional-support animals follow the regular pet restrictions.
